DeLight: The Journey Home

The DeLight: The Journey Home project was presented back in 2019, having received some awards, primarily due to its plot and elaboration of the world in which all events will unfold. Nevertheless, it went into general access only at the end of November last year, and it appeared immediately both for PC in Steam and for mobile platforms. After that, several more awards appeared. But we, as usual, will consider everything from our own, specific angle.

And we prepared a project in the studio WEXPLORE GAMES CO., LIMTED, on account of which there are only two games for android, and what is the strangest, they are not very popular, which alarmed us, contrary to the presence of various awards.

Well start, however, with a plot that really deserves attention here. The story, by the way, is gloomy, sad and in general many people may not like it. Nonetheless. The plot will unfold around the life of a little girl who found herself in the epicenter of hostilities, lost her grandfather, went blind, but found a guide dog and went in search of her parents. A bonus to such an unusual plot will be the fact that the game is not linear. Every decision affects the fate of the character, so think for yourself, decide for yourself, as they say, but the opportunity is cool.

Visual design, to put it mildly, none. It is not disgusting, but it clearly does not smell like something modern. So, we will not focus on it, we will only say that at the end of 2020 and even more so in 2021, we would like more elaboration from the outside world.

Now, lets turn to those things that most likely prevented the game from becoming popular. Its worth starting with localization, which is limited to English and Chinese. This is not so critical, but the audience size limits. The second point is that only the first chapter is free, then you need to buy each one or purchase the entire package at once, which is still important for the mobile platform, but for the PC they did a similar thing, which is unacceptable. Finally, the main problem is that the game has so many bugs that literally everyone encounters them. Someone right away, someone in the process of passing. There is, of course, the assumption that the first screenings of the game took place before the start of the pandemic, which could have significantly shifted the release, but nevertheless, it is not clear why the game was presented to the players without fixing the existing problems.

And you should buy a project only when the developers pull themselves together and fix all the problems.
