The File Explorer was created primarily in order to make you comfortable to manage their files on Android. Phones have stronger, more memory, and thus the file is stored there is also greater. Many people use their gadgets for work and in such situations, including the exchange of videos or photos, and even those engaged in almost everyone. As far as I can judge from the current situation, some adequate programs to communicate with the file system is not, something is right, because not everyone is there to climb and do something, but anyway, if you do it it is necessary, once there is a choice, because there are a lot of applications.
Choosing another conductor in its file system the first thing most people look - look, to be exact - usability. As for the File Explorer application from the developers of NextApp, Inc., a design and usability everything on top, everything is intuitive and concise, hard to find fault. But what about the functionality? In this case, it is very wide:
the ability to transfer files using Wi-Fi Direct
convenient remote access to all features
customize direct access to the desired folder
It supports multiple windows on a single screen
convenient viewing mode
the application recognizes most file formats and archives
many additional modules to extend the functionality
prosmtor images and video
extracting RAR and other archives
there is a command line to execute scripts
no advertising
complete confidentiality
Result: Due to the huge amount of competition is difficult to say what exactly the File Explorer can claim to be the leader, but with the problems it manages to 100%, while any shortcomings are virtually absent.
* Android 8+ Fixes for FX Connect: Android 8+ *REQUIRES* us to add location permissions to use Wi-Fi direct (apps can theoretically abuse Wi-Fi discovery to get your location). Location is never actually used by FX. You will NOT be asked to grant this permission except when using FX Connect on 8+. * New Google Drive/OneDrive implementation: faster/fault-tolerant uploads, edit documents directly (req Google / Microsoft Office apps). * Fixes for Dropbox and WebDAV/OwnCloud * Minor UI updates

Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.
Allows the app to view the configuration of Bluetooth on the device, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.
Allows the app to configure the local Bluetooth device, and to discover and pair with remote devices.

Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your device. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.
Allows the app to communicate with Near Field Communication (NFC) tags, cards, and readers.
